This specimen was lot 4259 in Goldberg sale 70 (Los Angeles, September 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States - Arquata. ¼ Scudo, 1681. Gerardo Spinola, 1681-1691. Bust left. Reverse: Spinola arms in branches. Very Rare. NGC graded AU-50." This specimen later sold in Goldberg sale 80 (June 2014) for $13,512.50. Arquata is a commune in the Ligurian alps between Genoa and Savoy and was frequently contended between them. The SCWC lists a number of issues from Arquata but shows no photos, suggesting that none are common.
