Aragon 1612 1/2 real
This specimen was lot 543 in Aureo y Calicó sale 246 (Barcelona, September 2012), where it sold for 135 € (about US$205 including buyer's fees). The catalog[1] noted,
"Felipe III (1598-1621). 1612. Barcelona. 1/2 croat. Rayitas. MBC-. (Philip III (1598-1621), half croat of 1612, Barcelona mint, scratches, about very fine.)"
This type is listed in the SCWC under Aragon, without a picture, and credited therein to the Zaragoza mint. We suspect that the auctioneers, natives of Barcelona, are more likely to be accurate but proceed with the SCWC's classification anyway, especially since the obverse shows the arms of Aragon.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
Catalog reference: KM 19 (listed under Aragon), Cal. 535, Cayón-4443 (attributed to Zaragoza).
