Anhalt 1914-A 5 mark Dav-512
This specimen was lot 4790 in Goldberg sale 69 (Los Angeles, May, 2012), where it sold for $1,322.50. The catalog description [2] noted, "German States - Anhalt. 5 Marks, 1914-A. Mintage of 1,000 in proof. Friedrich II, 1904-1918. For the silver wedding anniversary. Conjoined heads left. Reverse: Crowned imperial eagle. NGC graded Proof 65 Cameo." It is listed in the SCWC under "Anhalt-Dessau" but as the other branches of Anhalt, Anhalt-Bernberg and Anhalt-Cothen, had gone extinct by 1863, the title on the coin is simply "HERZOG V. ANHALT." This coin is the last five mark of this ruler. All are products of the Berlin mint.
Recorded mintage: 30,000 plus 1,000 proofs.
Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
