Künker Auction 425, lot 2018

This specimen was lot 2018 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €320 (about US$453 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · ANHALT, FÜRSTENTUM Johann Georg II. von Dessau, Vic. Amad. v. Bernb., Wilh. v. Harzg., Karl Wilh. v. Zer. u. Leberecht v. Köth., 1665-1690. 16 Groschen (Gulden) 1686, Zerbst. RR Sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Thormann, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 320, Osnabrück 2019, Nr. 4781; zuvor erworben im Juni 1972 von Detlef Tietjen, Hamburg. (Germany, principality of Anhalt, joint issue of John George II of Anhalt-Dessau, Victor Amadeus of Anhalt-Bernburg, William of Anhalt-Harzgerode, Charles William of Anhalt-Zerbst and Leberecht of Anhalt-Cothen, 16 groschen or gulden of 1686, Zerbst mint. Very rare, very fine.)"

This type was struck 1683-86 and 1689 towards the end of the fad for gulden. It is a joint issue of all the branches of Anhalt. Mintmaster Christian Pflug ("CP") also toiled at the Eisleben and Magdeburg mints.
