Künker sale 352, lot 1717

This specimen was lot 1717 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,732 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ANHALT, ANHALT-ZERBST, FÜRSTENTUM, Johann Ludwig und Christian August, 1742-1746. Dukat 1742, auf ihren Regierungsantritt. GOLD. Vorzüglich/Stempelglanz. (Germany, principality of Anhalt-Zerbst, John Louis and Christian August, 1742-46, ducat of 1742, on their accession. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Christian August, mentioned above, was the father of Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg (1729-96), later Catherine the Great of Russia.
