This specimen was lot 23951 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $3,290. The catalog description[1] noted, "Anhalt-Dessau. Leopold Friedrich 2 Taler 1839-A, MS62 NGC, sharply detailed with nearly full mint luster, very faint handling in the fields. Scarce type and an attractive example." This type is recorded for 1839, 1843 and 1846 and is not as rare as the mintage would indicate. It was struck in Berlin.

Recorded mintage: 4,700.

Specification: 37.12 g, 0.900 fine silver, lettered edge.
