Algeria AH 995 dinar
The first specimen was lot 33280 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Murad III (1574-1595) gold Dinar AH 995 (AD 1586/7) XF45 ANACS, Tilimsan mint (in Algeria). A pleasing pale gold type with notably struck central devices and some slight weakness in the margins. As is usual with the Ottomans' Algerian emissions, the present piece is quite rare and ever-desirable, struck to the Ziyanid weight standard. Ex. Dr. Hans Wilski Collection." The second specimen was lot 403 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[2] noted, "OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Murad III, 1574-1595, AV dinar, [Tilimsan], AH995, clearly dated in both obverse & reverse margins, VF-EF, R."
Recorded mintage: unknown.
