Algeria AH 1198 1/4 budju
This specimen was lot 2297 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$97 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"OSMANISCHES REICH | ´Abd al-Hamîd I., 1187-1203 H./1774-1789 AD, 1/4 Buju 1198 H., Jazâ'ir (Algier). Titel, Name und Segenswunsch, Rv. Münzstätte und Prägejahr. . Sehr schön. Beschnitten (?). (Turkey, Abdul Hamid I, 1774-89, quarter budju of AH 1198, Algiers mint. Obverse: title, name and blessing; reverse: minmark and date. Very fine, perhaps clipped.)"
This obscure type was struck AH 1188-1203. The state of Algiers survived mostly by piracy.
