This specimen was lot 3110 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 800 CHF (aboout US$955 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Algerien, Republik, seit 1962 2 Dinars 1417 H. (1996). Freiheitskämpfer Abd el-Kader. FDC. NGC MS66. (republic of Algeria, since 1962, two dinars of AH 1417 (1996), freedom fighter Abd el-Kader, Uncirculated.)"
Abdelkader ibn Muhieddine (1808-1883) was an Algerian tribal leader who resisted the French invasion of the 1830's. Forced to surrender in 1839, he spent his life in exile in France and Syria.
