This specimen was lot 34342 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $2,402.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "Alderney: British Dependency. Elizabeth II 3-Piece gold Proof "Three Graces" Sovereign Set 2020 PR70 Deep Cameo PCGS. First Releases. Produced from a scant mintage of just 500 sets with 1/4, 1/2, and full Sovereign denominations, and certified with the first strike designation. A scarce set commemorating William Wyon's trademark "Three Graces" design, depicting the three kingdoms of the United Kingdom as allegorical figures or Charites. A wholesome trio sold with presentation case and COA numbered 429." Alderney was not granted the right to coin until 1989, and has used it only to issue NCLT's. This one honors the "Three Grace" pattern crown issued by the Tower Mint during the transition to steam coinage.
