This specimen was lot 75793 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $149. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 1/2 Real, 1798-LIMAE IJ. Lima Mint. Charles IV. PCGS AU-53. SCARCE. From the Richard August Collection." Per Harris[2], of the six mints that struck half reales for Charles IV, Lima is tied with Guatemala as scarce, showing only only two-fifths as many as Potosi or Santiago and one seventh as many as Mexico. Assayer "IJ" is noted for the years 1788-1803.
