Heritage sale 3064, lot 33287

This specimen was lot 33287 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria Farthing 1839 MS64 Red PCGS. A fiery red example with plentiful cartwheel luster and some light scratches across the knee of the left leg of the triskeles." Copper farthings, halfpennies and pennies were struck for the Isle of Man in 1839 but large scale production was never undertaken. Proofs of the farthings are known for 1840, 1841, 1860 and 1864.

Recorded mintage: 213,000 plus proofs.
