Goldberg sale 109, lot 2679

This specimen was lot 2679 in Goldberg sale 109 (Los Angeles, January 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Lucca. Soldo, 1841. Copper. Carlo Lodovico di Borbone, Duke. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown." Charles Louis, king of Etruria as a child, ruled this tiny state as an adult. This scarce type was struck 1841 only. One soldo = 12 denari = 4 quattrini.

Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.

Specification: copper, 3.25 g, 22 mm diameter.
