This specimen is from a series struck 1935 only during the early years of the Nazi regime in Germany. The "A" mintmark is for the Berlin mint. For a race of Aryan supermen, the Nazis were remarkably unimaginative coin designers and this type is quite dull. It was replaced by a nickel type struck 1938-39.
Recorded mintage: 75,912,000.
Specification: aluminum.
Catalog reference: KM 87.
