This type was issued by the Philippines for circulation 1983-90, to be superseded in 1991 by a smaller brass coin (KM 241.2). Today, with US$1 = 48 PHP (approximately), no coins smaller than a peso circulate. This date is common. The butterfly on the reverse is Graphium idaeoides, and found only in the Philippines. Over a hundred Asian and Australian swallowtails are classified in the genus Graphium.
