Mexico 2007Nay 100 pesos rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is one of a series issued by the Mexico City mint to honor each of the Mexican states, this one being for Nayarit. The program was modeled on the U. S. Mint's state quarter program and was quite popular. The first series, featuring the arms of each state, was issued in reverse alphabetical order, starting with Zacatecas. The second series, commencing in 2005, featured state animals, monuments, heroes, etc. The one for Nayarit, shown here, honors the Isla de Mexcaltitlan. The coins are the same weight and diameter as the bimetallic fifty pesos of 1993-95 (KM 571).

Recorded mintage: 149,560.

Specification: 33.94 g, brass outer ring with 0.925 fine silver center, .500 troy oz ASW, 39.0 mm diameter, segmented reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 798.
