Stack's Bowers 2019 NYINC sale, lot 43263

This specimen was lot 43263 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2019), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY. 100000 Forint, 2006-BP. NGC PROOF-69 ULTRA CAMEO. Anniversary of the 1956 Revolution. Hard mirrored fields with frosted cameo devices." The 1956 revolt against communist rule was swiftly crushed by Russian invasion. The commemorative was accompanied by KM 789 (copper-nickel 50 forint) and KM 795 (silver 5,000 forint).

Recorded mintage: 5,000 proofs.

Specification: 20.95 g, 0.986 fine gold, 38.61 mm diameter.
