This specimen was lot 486 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Mehmet IV, 1648-1687, AV sultani, Misr, AH1058, about 15% flat strike, full bold mint & date, crude EF, ex Hazerfans Collection." Mehmet IV succeeded to the throne at the age of six when his father was overthrown and killed in a palace coup. His long rule, stabilized by the clan of Köprülü viziers, saw the empire attain its territorial maximum. This type is listed in the SCWC as an altin.
