Steve Album sale 51, lot 699
Haider Ali's dominions in 1780

This specimen was lot 699 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "MYSORE: Tipu Sultan, 1782-1799, AE 2 paisa (othmani), Farrukhyab-Hisar, AM1218, elephant left, date above tail, PCGS graded VF30." This type was struck AM 1218-1219. The Mauludi Era (AM) was a calendar invented and used only by Tipu Sultan and it lapsed after his death in battle in 1799.

Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
