Sincona sale 84, lot 205

This specimen was lot 205 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 60 CHF (about US$81 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, Rouble 1803, Banking Mint, SPB AI. 2.25 roubles according to Ilyin. 5 roubles according to Ilyin. Fine-very fine."

The SCWC records this product of the St. Petersburg mint (СПБ) for 1802-05. The type is much scarcer than later rubles of Alexander I (1811-26).

Recorded mintage: 2,429,000 including assayer ФГ.

Specification: 20.73 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 19.92 g.
