Genoa 1795 2 lire
This specimen was lot 1688 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €340 (about US$482 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"EUROPÄISCHE MÜNZEN UND MEDAILLEN · ITALIEN, GENUA Republik (Dogi Biennali), 1528-1797. 2 Lire 1795. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit hübscher Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Italy, republic of Genoa, biennial doges, 1528-1797, two lire of 1795. Very attractive example with handsome patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This type is listed for 1793-97 and is accompanied by a one, four (KM 244) and eight lire (KM 249). Occupied by Napoleon in 1797, the city never regained its independence.
