Sincona sale 47, lot 1887

This specimen was lot 1887 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,560 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY, Messerano, Francesco Filiberto Ferrero Fieschi, 1584-1629. 2 Fiorini o. J. Von grösster Seltenheit. Schön-sehr schön. (marquisate of Messerano, Francesco Filiberto Ferrero Fieschi, 1584-1629, undated double florin. Of the highest rarity, Fine-very fine.)"

Messerano is on the Milanese side of the border between Savoy/Sardinia and Milan. The marquis sold his domain to Sardinia in 1767.
