This specimen was part of lot 30380 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), which sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "Elizabeth II 5-Piece Certified Proof Set 1956, 1) Penny - PR64 Red and Brown NGC; 2) 3 Pence - PR67 NGC; 3) 6 Pence - PR67 NGC, KM58; 4) Shilling - PR66 NGC, KM59; 5) Florin - PR66 NGC, KM60; A highly lustrous and pleasing group, mostly in the gem range save for the penny, which is about as close as one can get. An excellent group, with a mintage of just 1,500 sets." Australia debased the threepence from sterling to 0.500 fine in 1947. This type was minted only at Melbourne 1955-64 and is common, tho the proofs are rare.
