This specimen was lot 820 in Steve Album Auction 52 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2025), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA: Republic, 50 groschen, 1936, scarce key date, a superb lustrous mint state example! PCGS graded MS65." In 1925, the currency was reformed with 100 kronen (old) = one groschen (new) and 100 groschen = one schilling. This type was struck 1935-36, a few years before the anschluss with Nazi Germany.
Recorded mintage: 1,200,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 5.5 g, copper-nickel, 24 mm diameter, plain edge, engraved by Gudrun Baudisch.
