This specimen was part of lot 4414 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), which sold for 40 CHF (about US$58 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Schwyz, Angster 1814, Aarau. Angster 1816. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (2) (Switzerland, Schwyz, angsters of 1814 and 1816, Aarau mint. Very Fine-About Uncirculated, two pieces.)"

This type, the lowest copper denomination, was struck 1810-16, 1821, 1827, 1838, 1843-46. After being temporarily unified under Napoleon's Helvetic Republic, the cantons went their separate ways after the Congress of Vienna and issued a torrent of low value coins. The Swiss confederation was reorganized in 1848 and the cantonal issues terminated. Numista states 200 angster made a franc.

Recorded mintage: unknown but fairly common.

Specification: 0.6 g, copper, 14 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 55, D.T. 88g, HMZ 2-812g.
