Geneva 1595-G quart

Sincona sale 97, lot 3234

This specimen was lot 3234 in SINCONA Auction 97 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 100 CHF (about US$145 including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Genf/Genève, Stadt und Kanton, Quart 1595 G, Genf. Kleine Schrötlingsfehler. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittlich gut ausgeprägt. (Switzerland, canton of Geneva, quart of 1595, Geneva mint. Minor planchet flaw, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, Extraordinarily well struck.)"

This type was struck 1535, 1551-57, 1560-62, 1589-98 and undated. These low denomination coins were often crudely made on bad planchets.
