Naples and Sicily 1853 1/2 tornese KM-362
The first specimen was lot 2651 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$108 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALIEN Neapel / Sizilien, Ferdinando II. 1830-1859. 1/2 Tornese 1853, Torino. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS65 RB. (Italy, kingdom of Naples and Sicily, Ferdinand II, 1830-59, half tornese of 1853, Turin mint (sic). Rare in this condition.)"
This denomination was struck 1847-54 with a small head (KM 362, shown here) and 1853-54 with a large head (KM 371). Other copper coinage of the period included one, 1½, two, three, four, five, eight and ten tornesi.
