This specimen was lot 1559 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$240 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"GERMANY, Deutsche Demokratische Republik, 20 Mark 1987 A, Berlin. Historisches Stadtsiegel. FDC. (Germany, democratic republic, twenty mark of 1897, Berlin mint. 750th anniversary of the founding of Berlin. Uncirculated.)"
This standard was used for several commemoratives issues 1966-90. A number of copper-nickel types were also issued for circulation.
Specification: 20.9 g, .625 fine silver, .420 troy oz ASW, 33 mm diameter, edge lettered 20 MARK. This specimen 20.98 g.
Recorded Mintage: 42,000 + 2,100 proofs.
