This specimen was lot 2113 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU, Lima, pillar ½ real, Charles III, 1772 JM, very rare, ex-O'Brien. Very rare date and final year of issue for the type; though cataloged by Yonaka as R4 and only one observed, we found at least two others sold in the past thirteen years. VG with a few scratches, irregular edges (as made). Pedigreed to the John O'Brien Collection, with his tag." This type was struck for Charles III 1760-72. It is not rare but many of the dates are very scarce compared to their Mexican equivalents.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.917 fine silver, this specimen 1.58 grams.

Catalog reference: Cayón-limonite, Yonaka-L05.72; KM-60; Cal-126.
