Steve Album sale 51, lot 3644

This specimen was lot 3644 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH INDOCHINA: French Colony, AR 10 centimes, 1893-A, Paris Mint, a superb example, PCGS graded MS65, ex Howard A. Daniel III Collection." This ten cent piece is one of a type issued for French Indo-China during 1885-95. The type was reduced to 2.7 grams in 1895 and issued in that form until 1898, when the fineness was reduced to .835. This is a common date but the type is considerably scarcer than later issues.

Recorded mintage: 600,000.

Specifications: 2.721 g, 0.900 fine silver, .0787 troy oz ASW, designed by Barré.

Catalog reference KM-2, Lec-133.
