This specimen was lot 75100 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Jena. Grosch, 1691. Johann Wilhelm. PCGS MS-63. Posthumous issue, struck to commemorate the death of the Duke." Johann Wilhelm succeeded to the title in 1678, at the age of three, and died in 1690, aged fifteen. He never governed personally, and his death ended the Saxe-Jena line after only 18 years. The state reverted to Saxe-Weimar.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM-36.
