This coin was struck in Berlin (shown here) and Muldenhutten for the communist puppet regime in 1948-50. The Deutsche Demokratische Republik was officially established in the Soviet occupation zone in October 1949 but this coin merely states "Deutschland".
Recorded mintage: 243,000,275 for 1948-50.
Specification: 0.75 g, aluminum, 17 mm diameter, plain edge.
