Philippines 1998 5 piso
The obverse is the portrait is of Emilio Aguinaldo, who led the unsuccessful fight for independence from the United States in 1899-1903. He survived until 1964 but was never able to live down accusations of collaboration with the Japanese during World War Two. The five peso coin has a face value of about ten cents (April 2019). This design, struck since 1995, was retired in 2018 in favor of a smaller and cheaper type in nickel plated steel.
