Liechtenstein 2006-B 50 franken
This specimen was lot 2797 in Sincona sale 87 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 425 CHF (about US$572 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"LIECHTENSTEIN Hans Adam II. seit 1989. 50 Franken 2006 B, Bern. 200 Jahre Souveränität. PCGS PR69 DCAM. (principality of Liechtenstein, Hans Adam II, since 1989, fifty francs of 2006, Bern mint, on 200 years of sovereignty.)"
In 1806, on the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, the principality of Liechtenstein found herself independent of her former ties to Austria. No ruling prince of Liechtenstein set foot in his domain until 1818. Today, the locals use Swiss money for ordinary transactions and Liechtensteiner coinage is strictly NCLT's.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 8.88 g, 0.999 fine gold.
