This aluminum bronze fifty pesos is from a type struck since 1989 for Chile. The effigy of Bernardo O'Higgins, hero of the struggle for independence, was first used on copper pesos of the 1940's. The SCWC notes that all dates are common. This design may still be in production; 2013 is the most recent date in the SCWC but Numista shows a 2023. We doubt it still circulates; as of October 2024, 50 Chilean pesos = 5.3 cents.

Recorded mintage: 53,000,000.

Specification: 7 g, aluminum-bronze, 25 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 219.2.
