The specimen shown is of a type common in all grades. The type was struck 1894-99, along with a half real (KM 165), one real (KM 166), two reales (KM 167), four reales (KM 168.1) and peso (KM 210). Guatemala was the last country in Latin America to abandon the real, in 1912, a reflection of the extreme conservatism of the peasant society.

Recorded mintage: 1,482,000.
