The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in France 1999-2006. France began minting euros in 1999. The stylized female figure, adapted from the old Semeuse coinage of World War One, also appears on the ten and fifty cents. The twenty cents was issued only in sets during 2003-2006 but circulation issues have resumed.

Recorded mintage: 148,988,613 plus 35,000 proofs.

Specification: 5.73 g., Brass, 22.2 mm diameter.
