Sincona sale 91, lot 3141

This specimen was lot 3141 in Sincona sale 91 (Zurich, May 2024), where it sold for 9,000 CHF (about US$11,893 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Bern, Stadt und Kanton, 10 Kreuzer 1715, Bern. Berner Wappen auf verzierter Kartusche. Darunter die Wertbezeichnung "CR.10". ".MONETA REIPUB: BERNEN:". Rv. Zwei ineinander verschlungene "B" über der Jahreszahl. ".DOMINUS PROVIDEBIT.". Glatter Rand. Von grösster Seltenheit. Vorzüglich-FDC. Exemplar der Auktion SINCONA 30, Zürich, Mai 2016, Los 3621. The climbing bear is the badge of Bern, Switzerland. This type is listed for 1715 only and is rare. The ten kreuzer of 1716-17 (KM 85) is much more available. No twenty kreuzer were struck in 1715. At the time, four kreuzer = one batzen and forty batzen = one thaler.

Recorded mintage: unknown.
