This specimen was lot 1277 in Stephen Album sale 47 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "AACHEN: Free Imperial City, AR groschen, 1403, facing figure of Charlemagne holding orb and scepter with shield in foreground and SCS KAROL MA - GNVS IPERAT around // medium-length cross separating inner legend with ANNO DOMINI MILLESIMO CCCC TERCIO MON - ETA - VRB' - AQEN around in two concentric circles, light ghosting of cross on obverse, some edge oxidation (removable?), wonderful well-struck portrait of Charlemagne, date in Roman numerals and spelled out (TERCIO), EF, R."
