Revision as of 21:17, 14 April 2024 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Cape Verde has" to "Cape Verde has")
This type was struck in 1968 for the Portuguese colony of Cape Verde, a group of islands off the west coast of Africa. It is the last coin issued for the colony before independence. Unlike Angola and Mozambique, Cape Verde obtained its independence in 1975 with little bloodshed. Since independence, Cape Verde has been ruled by the same political party which controls Guinea-Bissau on the mainland; they are de facto united.
