This issue, minted in Lisbon 1968, 1970 and 1974 for the Portuguese colony of Mozambique, is the last ten escudos for that colony. Previous silver issues were dated 1936, 1938, 1952-55, 1960 and 1966. The coin is common. This coin was issued towards the end of the war for independence. The Portuguese withdrew in 1975, triggering a multifactional war that continued for decades.
