This specimen was lot 3478 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,227 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Josef II. 1765-1790. 2 Dukaten 1783, E, Karlsburg. GOLD. Fast vorzüglich. (Austria, Joseph II, 1765-90, double ducat of 1783, Karlsburg mint. Choice extremely fine.)"
Like most double ducats, this type, listed for 1783-87, is scarce but slightly more common than prior types. Altho Friedberg lists this under Hungary, we have followed the SCWC and filed it under Austria.

Specification: 7 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 6.96 g.
