Tuvalu was formerly the Ellice part of the Gilbert and Ellice Islands. The islands obtained their independence in 1976 and this type was issued 1976, 1981 and 1985. A series of circulation coinage was issued in 1994 but none since.
Recorded mintage: unknown but not common.
Specification: 15.5 g, copper-nickel, 31.65 mm diameter.
