Künker sale 294, lot 4240

This specimen was lot 4240 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSKLEINMÜNZEN, 1 Mark 1886, A. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz (Germany, unified minor coinage, one mark of 1886-A, about uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1873-87 at nine mints; this specimen is a product of the Berlin mint ("A"). It is a fairly common date. In 1891, a modified eagle was introduced and this denomination was struck in that form until 1918.

Recorded mintage: 1,100,592.

Specification: 5.55 g, 0.900 fine silver, 24 mm diameter.
