This specimen was lot 33341 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "Belgium: Leopold II gold 20 Francs 1878 MS66 PCGS. A gem example with hints of rose-gold and vibrant luster. A pleasing needle-sharp strike." This coin, one of a type struck 1870-82 during the reign of Leopold III (1865-1909), corresponds in weight and fineness to the contemporary French twenty francs.

Recorded mintage: 2,505,000, a common date.
