This coin, one of a type struck 1870-82 during the reign of Leopold III of Belgium (1865-1909), corresponds in weight and fineness to the contemporary French twenty francs. This specimen was lot 3322 in Goldberg sale 62 (Beverly Hills, February 2010), where it sold for $287.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Belgium. 20 Francs, 1876. Leopold II. Head right. Reverse: Crowned arms. ANACS graded MS-65."
Recorded mintage: 2,070,000 (position A and B).
Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW.
