Revision as of 15:06, 12 September 2023 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "* [[Peru 1963 20 centavos" to "* 1963 10 centavos * [[Peru 1963 20 centavos")
Many countries, including the United States, Belgium and the Netherlands, have experimented with zinc coins but have generally found them unsuitable. Peru seems to be an exception as this denomination was issued in zinc 1950-65 along with a zinc two centavos. An overdate, 1963/53, is recorded for the year. Zinc coins as a class are difficult to find in nice condition as the alloy corrodes readily.
Recorded mintage: 2,400,000.
Specification: 1 g, zinc, 15 mm diameter, plain edge.
Catalog reference: KM 227.
