Peru 1900-JF 1/2 dinero
This medio dinero, or half dime, was struck in Lima in 1900. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. Varieties and overdates abound; for 1900, a 1900/90, 1900/98, 1900/890, 1900/898, 1900/897 and 1900/89 overdates are recorded in addition to the normal date. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-64 (KM 189). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel five centavos.
