Peru 1901-JF 1/2 dinero

This medio dinero, or half dime, was struck in Lima in 1901. Most issued after 1898 were made from melted down one sol coins. Varieties and overdates abound; for 1900, a 1901/801, 1901/801/701, 1901/891/791, and 1901/891 overdates are recorded in addition to the normal date. A earlier type, with a slightly different figure of seated Liberty, was issued 1863-64 (KM 189). The silver coin was replaced in 1918 by a copper-nickel five centavos.

Specification: 1.25 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge.
