Heritage sale 3106, lot 33661

This specimen was lot 33661 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Prussia. Wilhelm II gold 20 Mark 1898-A MS65 NGC, Berlin mint. Exceptional Gem quality that places the piece at the top of the NGC census. Mirror-like fields encase a bold strike, exemplified by no discernable weakness to the imperial eagle, which is rarely seen." This type, issued 1890-1913, is common and is a product of the Berlin mint (mintmark "A").

Recorded mintage: 6,542,219.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold.
